Rainy Day Activities

Friday was a LONG rainy day.

I hated to skip gymnastics, but just could not muster the energy required to accomplish the simple task of getting Ella and Aidan into the gym for three main reasons:

1 - Around the time we needed to leave it was raining - that steady drizzle kind of rain.

2 - I can never find a parking space anywhere near the entrance.  It seems that people go to the gym to work out, but insist on parking close to the door.  Guess that they don't want to get too much exercise! On a normal day, I could care less and we park out in the middle of nowhere and take our time.

3 - Even if we were lucky enough to get a parking spot up close, Mom with two toddlers is NOT an efficient, forward moving machine.  Although we are slow, Ella and Aidan are excellent at holding my hands and we typically can get there in a reasonable amount of time.  However; in the rain, I just knew that it was inevitable that someone would want to stop to pick up a rock, or point at a truck, or adjust her shoe, or practice marching, or perhaps even practice her temper tantrums with a nice scream, twist / turn, and lie down on the pavement.

4 - Carrying them both and making a dash for the entrance is no longer an option.  Back in the day, it would not have been a problem at all - I carried them both at the same time quite often. Today; however, they both find the act of being carried to be a horrendous insult and I would most likely have ended up dropping a screaming, squirmy little someone along the way.

So, we stayed home.

We played in the tunnel:

We ate lunch at our toddler table instead of the kitchen table:

We wore our favorite hats:

We did some table dancing (Ha, Ha! - and no, they are not allowed to be up on top of the train table!):

And we had a wonderfully healthy dinner consisting of blueberries, ketchup and yogurt (I promise that I served them other foods, they just refused to eat them):
