We knew we had chosen the right place when upon entering the front door, the first thing we saw was a huge Shrek and his pal Donkey! Ella and Aidan LOVE Shrek!!
They made themselves at home in the play area while we waited, and when it was our turn, followed the hygenist right through the doors and down the hallway like they owned the place!
Quite frankly, I think I would like to get my teeth cleaned here! Fun decorations, stuffed animals to hold, personal televisons on the ceiling above the chairs, sugar free lollipops when you leave.....what could be better?
The area where they do the cleanings is big, cheery and bright - and both Ella and Aidan were initially very comfortable with the foreign surroundings. First they got to pick out a new toothbrush.
They both got a little nervous and shed a few tears with the initial exam, but the hygenists let them sit up in our laps rather than lay down, which made a huge difference!
Then the dentist came in to look at their teeth and things got a little louder in the room. Ella and Aidan had to lie down for this part, and needless to say they were less than thrilled.
At any rate, all was good - no plaque to be found and not a cavity in sight!
We decided to attempt a real cleaning and Aidan was the lucky one to go first. Although he cried softly, he was ok, bounced back quickly and successfully had his first official cleaning and flouride treatment!
As for Ella, well, let's just say that we will have to wait for our next visit. She would have absolutely nothing to do with letting anyone else near her mouth again.
All in all it was a successful morning, complete with stickers and a balloon for each and they have been talking about their visit ever since!

I'm so proud of Aidan and Ella! They are more brave than I am at the dentist. :)
